Concepting and Designing a game.

At the end of the first year at Breda University of Applied Sciences, we were put in interdisciplinary teams with the task of creating a short, releasable title, based on given creative direction and constraints. This project was achieved with Unreal Engine 4.
The goal of this was teaching us the skills to put the finishing touches to a project and aiming to create a polished and complete item that can be shared to a wide audience within an agreed-upon time frame.

Within 8 weeks, we set out to build a polished game, one that could possibly be released in the future – the result of which can be seen on itch.io.

The concept of the game was made with a small team of three people in the first week of the block, producing a fleshed out concept, as well as moment to moment gameplay, Design Documents & key art.

Over the course of the block, more and more students joined our team – the game was on a good way of getting finished. I started producing handouts, explaining the controls and goals of the player, we made UI & UX decisions that I promptly implemented into the game, and even managed to make a short jingle for the main menu – which can be listened to below.

Overall, the project taught me a lot, especially how to polish a game quickly and effectively in a short time frame.
